In keeping with Greylight's commitment to the preservation and enhancement of our marine resources, we have initiated a program where a total of 2% of our sales for the year 2010 will be donated to organizations that we feel embody the ideals on which Greylight was founded. Each quarter, a new non-profit will be featured. A "pre-donation" is made to show our good faith, and any revenue above the projection will be paid at the end of the period.
To start things off, we're proud to feature Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute.
Since 1983, Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute (HSWRI) has been successfully breeding, rearing and releasing young white seabass back into the marine waters off of Southern California. By the 1980s, the white seabass population had been nearly wiped out by overfishing and the use of (now banned) gill nets. Now, thanks to careful species management and HSWRI's successful breeding, release, and tracking program, this fishery has begun to see substantial progress towards sustainability.
